Healing in the Round ~ group clinic apprentice

This apprenticeship is a deep dive in learning how to work with clients, offer effective herbal support, and teach the systems that help us understand ourselves as living landscapes. Like the land, we are meant to be imperfect and well-tended.

How does this work?

This is an online offering, using the zoom platform. You and I will offer a welcoming environment for clients to enter, then you get to listen in on herbal consultations (2 per session, 4 different cases total), and further your knowledge of how to apply plant medicine that supports us holistically. I use Daoist Medicine as the lens to understand imbalance, so you’ll hear me share on the three treasures model, the elemental map, and self-diagnostic tools that support constitutional understanding. I’ll also offer suggestions of herbs, qigong, nutritional support, and trauma resolution for each individual person. Your time during this two hour session will be as a witness, a powerful seat that encourages trust and vulnerability for those that share. After each group session, we will speak one on one and dissect each person’s case for one hour (to be scheduled together). This will be a time of individual support for you to ask questions, share ideas, and make connections. Using case studies is an incredibly efficient and rich way to deepen your herbal knowledge, giving you more tools to work with your own clients and community.

Who is the for?

This apprenticeship is for anyone looking to deepen their working knowledge of how to use plants holistically for imbalance. You will want to be familiar with a general scope of plants, herbal actions, and the human body. For reference, past Healing in the Round clients have sought support in infertility, chronic lyme, cancer, pain management at end of life, and auto-immune disorders. This space is made safe for people of all ethnic backgrounds, gender and sexual orientation, and age (though it’s not open to teens or children). You will need to be comfortable with a wide variety of experiences, and grounded enough to keep your own triggers in check.

Time Commitments.

In participating, you agree to show up for each session to the best of your ability. Though you will mostly be an attentive witness during clinic, your role is deeply supportive and impactful for the clients. If you have to miss a group clinic, we will also cancel the one-on-one session. We do not record client sharing time to protect privacy (although I do my best to record when I’m teaching). Please see the dates below and make sure you can attend all sessions before completing the application.

Past Apprentice Words…

“Joining HIR as an apprentice was a true honor. Through the trust and intimacy we established from the outset as a circle, I was privileged to listen to and witness human beings as they approached themselves, their own healing and each other with tenderness and insight. With Frieda's kind, sincere curiosity combined with her broad and deep training and experience to guide the conversations, we all learned and we all grew, and I believe we all came away with greater appreciation for our bodies and our health.” -Eden
